Victory to Lord Ganesha! His mother is Parvati, his father the great Mahadeva.
Verse 1
एक दन्त दयावन्त, चार भुजा धारी । माथे पर सिन्दूर सोहे, मूसे की सवारी ॥ जय गणेश… ॥
eka danta dayavanta, cara bhuja dhari mathe para sindura sohe, muse ki savari
eka danta dayāvanta, cāra bhujā dhārī māthe para sindūra sohe, mūse kī savārī
Single-tusked and full of mercy, bearing four arms; vermilion adorns his forehead, and the mouse is his mount.
Verse 2
पान चढ़े फूल चढ़े, और चढ़े मेवा । लड्डुअन का भोग लगे, सन्त करें सेवा ॥ जय गणेश… ॥
pana cadhe phula cadhe, aura cadhe meva ladduana ka bhoga lage, santa karem seva
pāna caḍhe phūla caḍhe, aura caḍhe mevā laḍḍuana kā bhoga lage, santa kareṃ sevā
Betel leaves, flowers and dried fruits are offered; laddus are presented as bhog, and the saints render service.
Verse 3
अन्धन को आँख देत, कोढ़िन को काया । बाँझन को पुत्र देत, निर्धन को माया ॥ जय गणेश… ॥
andhana ko ãkha deta, kodhina ko kaya bãjhana ko putra deta, nirdhana ko maya
andhana ko ā̃kha deta, koḍhina ko kāyā bā̃jhana ko putra deta, nirdhana ko māyā
To the blind he gives sight, to the afflicted a whole body; to the childless he gives children, and to the poor, prosperity.
Verse 4
'सूर' श्याम शरण आए, सफल कीजे सेवा । माता जाकी पार्वती, पिता महादेवा ॥ जय गणेश… ॥
'sura' shyama sharana ae, saphala kije seva mata jaki parvati, pita mahadeva
'sūra' śyāma śaraṇa āe, saphala kīje sevā mātā jākī pārvatī, pitā mahādevā
Shyam has come to your refuge — make his service fruitful. His mother is Parvati, his father the great Mahadeva.
When it is recited: Sung when Ganesha is worshipped first in any puja, on Wednesdays, Vinayaka and Sankashti Chaturthi, and through the days of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Traditional significance: Each verse recalls Ganesha's grace toward the devotee — sight to the blind, health to the afflicted — affirming that sincere devotion, even a simple offering, is always received.
Questions
Why is the Ganesh aarti sung first?

Ganesha is worshipped before all other deities as the remover of obstacles, so his aarti traditionally opens a full aarti sequence.
