Om, victory to the Lord of the Universe! The troubles of your devotees and servants you remove in an instant.

Verse 1

जो ध्यावे फल पावे, दुःख बिनसे मन का । सुख सम्पत्ति घर आवे, कष्ट मिटे तन का ॥ ॐ जय… ॥

jo dhyave phala pave, duhkha binase mana ka sukha sampatti ghara ave, kashta mite tana ka

jo dhyāve phala pāve, duḥkha binase mana kā sukha sampatti ghara āve, kaṣṭa miṭe tana kā

Whoever meditates on you receives the fruit; the mind's sorrow is destroyed, happiness and prosperity come home, and the body's afflictions end.

Verse 2

मात पिता तुम मेरे, शरण गहूँ मैं किसकी । तुम बिन और न दूजा, आस करूँ मैं जिसकी ॥ ॐ जय… ॥

mata pita tuma mere, sharana gahum maim kisaki tuma bina aura na duja, asa karum maim jisaki

māta pitā tuma mere, śaraṇa gahūṃ maiṃ kisakī tuma bina aura na dūjā, āsa karūṃ maiṃ jisakī

You are my mother and father — whose refuge would I take but yours? Apart from you there is no other in whom I place hope.

Verse 3

तुम पूरण परमात्मा, तुम अन्तर्यामी । पारब्रह्म परमेश्वर, तुम सबके स्वामी ॥ ॐ जय… ॥

tuma purana paramatma, tuma antaryami parabrahma parameshvara, tuma sabake svami

tuma pūraṇa paramātmā, tuma antaryāmī pārabrahma parameśvara, tuma sabake svāmī

You are the complete Supreme Soul, the indweller of every heart — Parabrahma, the Supreme Lord, master of all.

Verse 4

तुम करुणा के सागर, तुम पालनकर्ता । मैं मूरख खल कामी, कृपा करो भर्ता ॥ ॐ जय… ॥

tuma karuna ke sagara, tuma palana-karta maim murakha khala kami, kripa karo bharta

tuma karuṇā ke sāgara, tuma pālana-kartā maiṃ mūrakha khala kāmī, kṛpā karo bhartā

You are the ocean of compassion, the sustainer; I am foolish, wayward and full of desire — shower your grace on me, O protector.

Verse 5

तुम हो एक अगोचर, सबके प्राणपति । किस विधि मिलूँ दयामय, तुमको मैं कुमति ॥ ॐ जय… ॥

tuma ho eka agocara, sabake prana-pati kisa vidhi milum dayamaya, tumako maim kumati

tuma ho eka agocara, sabake prāṇa-pati kisa vidhi milūṃ dayāmaya, tumako maiṃ kumati

You are the one beyond the senses, lord of every breath; by what path shall I, of clouded mind, reach you, O merciful one?

Verse 6

दीनबन्धु दुखहर्ता, ठाकुर तुम मेरे । अपने हाथ उठाओ, द्वार पड़ा तेरे ॥ ॐ जय… ॥

dina-bandhu dukha-harta, thakura tuma mere apane hatha uthao, dvara pada tere

dīna-bandhu dukha-hartā, ṭhākura tuma mere apane hātha uṭhāo, dvāra paḍā tere

Friend of the humble, remover of sorrow, you are my master; raise your hand in blessing — I lie at your door.

Verse 7

विषय विकार मिटाओ, पाप हरो देवा । श्रद्धा भक्ति बढ़ाओ, सन्तन की सेवा ॥ ॐ जय… ॥

vishaya vikara mitao, papa haro deva shraddha bhakti badhao, santana ki seva

viṣaya vikāra miṭāo, pāpa haro devā śraddhā bhakti baḍhāo, santana kī sevā

Erase worldly cravings, take away my faults, O Lord; deepen my faith and devotion, and grant me the service of the saints.

When it is recited: Sung at the end of daily puja, on Ekadashi, Purnima, Satyanarayan Katha and nearly every home ceremony, with the waving of the aarti lamp.

Traditional significance: Addressed to the Lord of the Universe, it gathers the whole spirit of devotion — surrender, petition and praise — into eight verses simple enough for every generation to sing together.

When is Om Jai Jagdish Hare sung?

At the close of almost any puja — daily worship, Satyanarayan Katha, festivals — while the lit aarti lamp is waved before the deity in clockwise circles.
